Private Animal Sanctuary Tour

Welcome to our family-run animal sanctuary in the Catskills, just 15 minutes from Woodstock and Saugerties.

This is a private, one-hour experience where you'll meet the rescued animals who call Napping Horse Farm home. We spend time getting to know each animal, sharing how they came to us, what their personalities are like, and what life looks like at a rescue sanctuary.

Every visit is a little different because we let the animals decide how they want to interact. Our miniature donkeys are usually the first to ask for scratches, the goats are endlessly curious, and our emus often work up the courage to eat treats from your hand. Some animals are affectionate, others prefer to observe from a distance, and we respect that.

Whether you're an animal lover, visiting the Catskills, or just looking for a peaceful way to spend an hour, we hope you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for these animals and the work that goes into caring for them.

What to Expect

We'll meet at the horse barn before heading into the pasture to visit Osa and Atlas. As they enjoy some scratches and attention, we'll share their rescue stories, talk about horse care, and answer any questions you have, including Osa's journey after losing vision in her left eye.

From there we'll make our way down to meet our four miniature donkeys, who rarely turn down a good butt scratch and are always happy to pose for photos.

We'll also visit our friendly goats, our pot-bellied pigs (who may be napping or busy rooting around their garden), and our emus, who guests can hand-feed a special snack. Along the way you'll also meet our rescue ducks, geese, and rabbits.

Every tour helps support the care of our rescue animals, including food, veterinary care, and ongoing sanctuary expenses.

Tours are available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM, subject to availability.

Cancellation Policy

Cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled tour for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance are non-refundable, and changes cannot be made within 24 hours of the start time.

Tours run in light rain and snow but may be canceled in cases of severe weather. If we need to cancel because of weather, you'll be able to reschedule or receive a full refund.
