7) Sloan Gorge Preserve

Nestled amidst the lush Catskills wilderness, Sloan Gorge Preserve provides a short and easy trail perfect for children and for those looking to walk off their lunch. The trails wind through forests and along rock formations, offering a peaceful atmosphere perfect for a leisurely hike. We'd recommend this on days where you don't want to 'hike-hike', but you want to get out of the house.

6) Saugerties Lighthouse

For a charming coastal adventure, head to Saugerties Lighthouse. This trail combines the tranquility of a riverside stroll with historic charm. Meander along the Hudson River, savoring the panoramic views before arriving at the picturesque lighthouse perched at the water's edge. Perfect for a saturday afternoon after spending your day browsing around in Saugerties town center.

5) Plattekill Falls

Dive into the allure of cascading waters at Plattekill Falls. This hike offers a short but refreshing journey through forests, culminating in the breathtaking sight of the falls. If you are feeling brave, take a dip. Or, just have a picnic.

4) Ashokan Reservoir

Enjoy the panoramic views of the expansive reservoir, surrounded by the mesmerizing Catskill Mountains' backdrop. If you are lucky, you may see some of the many bald eagles that call this place home. It's a peaceful walk for a peaceful day out.

3) Huckleberry Point

Prepare to be mesmerized by the view at Huckleberry Point. The moderate trail leads to a jaw-dropping panoramic view of the Catskill Mountains and the surrounding valleys. A perfect spot for couples to share a magical sunset or a family to enjoy a breathtaking vista. This hike shouldn't be taken lightly however, bring snacks, water, and dress appropriately.

2) Overlook Mountain

Step into history while hiking Overlook Mountain. Wander through the ruins of an old hotel and ascend to the fire tower, offering sweeping views of the Hudson Valley. The mix of nature and historic relics makes this hike an adventure for all. Please bring water and snacks with you, it's a long way up. If you wouldn't call yourself a hiker, we'd say this would be a challenge but by all means doable. 

Difficulty: Moderate

1) Kaaterskill Falls

Saving the best for last, the iconic Kaaterskill Falls is a must-visit. Although a little challenging, the reward is extraordinary—a two-tiered waterfall cascading into a pool below. The beauty of these falls is awe-inspiring, making it an unforgettable experience for adventurous souls.

Difficulty: Very Easy (if you only visit the view point) or Moderate (if you go down to the falls)
